The Saint Street Inn held another local chef throw-down at the end of last month. SSI's very own Chef Andre "Buffalo" Tremble took on Kyle Cannella of Jolie's Louisiana Bistro, in a buffalo wing challenge.

NOLA 'Cue *Updated 04/19*

Since the creation of The Barbecue Bus it seems that every third thought through my brain involves pit cooked meat. My partner in 'cue Rien Fertel and I recently spent a day sampling barbecue available in New Orleans. We gave up after visiting just three locations and one delivery, but that was mostly because the food was too good to just sample.

Friday Happy Hour (light)


In the afternoon an intense light pours into my office through a skinny window above my computer, making photo editing nearly impossible. I should probably shade the glass, but the light fades as quickly as it arrives. Instead of squinting while working I've decided to start a new series shooting whatever is on hand. Today's subject Community Coffee dark roast beans.

Easter Oysters and Croquet

Our Kitchen Aide mixer earned its keep on Easter Sunday. Katie made a mountain of meringue to top her famous lemon pie and I mixed the dough for a fresh dill and onion rye bread.

Mystery Stuffed Bread

Every work trip out of Lafayette that starts before 1pm requires a stop at the Shop Rite on N. University for a stuffed bread. I don't think I've ever gotten the same filling twice. It's always a mystery as to what meat will be inside on that first bite. The all time best contained ground beef, sausage, ham and bacon it was just like winning the lottery.
